VOGUE will be only too happy that Lady Gaga ‘leaked’ her Vogue cover. Why?
Because Gaga is the twitter queen —with an all-time record of 28,143,338 twitter followers (that’s a MONSTER #…as of this writing. It’ll be probably 28.2m by the time you read this)
Think about that number for a minute. Back-in-the-day, Vogue would do a big media push, spend a ton of money and spread word of the new issue over a very WIDE audience in hopes there would be maybe 10-percent of the people who might be motivated to check out the latest issue.
Now, imagine you can reach 28-million people, at relatively NO COST, who are a specific, target audience of the person featured on your cover???
That’s the power of social media. You can bet Lady Gaga is not giving that GEM to Vogue for free. It increases Vogue’s ‘impressions’ worldwide and, thus, worldwide awareness of not only Vogue’s current issue, but the Vogue brand, possibly making it appear available to an audience that may have thought it too high-brow for them.
28m+ audience, just like that! That’s a monster deal…for little monsters everywhere.
