I often hear from people my age… parents as it were…that the kids of today lack character, drive, responsibility, etc…

Well, I think that is precisely what parents said about my generation and their parents about them.

And by the way, I know there has been a lot of negative press about sports lately, but sports is a great teacher of life. It teaches us to work with others, work together, work hard and, even if one does work hard, you could still lose. Builds character.

Speaking of character…

I knew a month or so ago when Lance Armstrong suddenly gave up his fight to prove he never doped before a race that the U.S. Anti-Doping Agency had the goods on him. I also knew it was only a matter of time before it came out and today’s that day. The linked article below is a very succinct, teammate by teammate, account of what they say Armstrong did in the drug world.

SIDE NOTE: I once met Lance backstage at Andrea Agassi’s annual event in Vegas. He was with Robin Williams. They were on a serious bromance binge. Robin telling me he loves cycling in SF and Lance rides with him on many occasions. Robin then paused and said, “and then when we’re done I ride Lance. ” Which I replied, “must be all those miles pedaling behind Lance and looking at his ass in those tight biker shorts.” Robin “It’s the bulge, the bulge!” As far as I could tell on that night, no doping took place. Lance loving his red wine and Robin drinking water.

With all due respect to Cypress Hill, it’s definitely “Usain In The Membrane” — right?
Love watching Usain Bolt run the Men’s Olympic 200m Semi-Final. Why?
For a number of reasons.
First, it’s just incredible athleticism. Watching history every time I watch him.
Second, it’s great to watch a once-in-a-lifetime athlete toy with his competition.
Bolt watches himself as he runs. Yep. Notice how he looks up at the live screen in the stadium to watch where the rest of the field is relative to him.
Third, he starts slowing down…shutting down the ‘jets’ as it were, LONG before he gets to 100m. More like the 85m mark.
Just insane.
Let’s seem him win the 200m Gold, which will set even more Olympics history — the first man to win the 100m and 200m Gold in consecutive Olympics — and then head over to Manchester United and play a little soccer. Now that would b insane Usain!

REALLY? Usain Bolt Is A Man Among Boys !!
