Love these guys, brothers Bard and Vegard Ylvisaker. You know their huge hit, “What the Fox Says,” but you may not know that it was done as a joke or that the brothers have a hit talk show in Norway on the appropriately name TVNorge. I particularly like saying the NORGE part. Anyway.
The Fox song/vid was done as a promo for the third season of their show. The brothers wanted to write the most ridiculous and stupid lyrics while using the best director, producers and production people they could find in both the studio (Jay-Z’s Roc the Mic Studio in NY) and in making the video. Clearly, they succeeded. 212,000,000 views so far.
The duo clearly love taking serious music genres and with a twist of phrase here n’ there and excellent production value and turn it into a one-of-a-kind parodies. I give you The Cabin above and at the bottom of this blog, the hilarious Work It. When they get into the hot tub specs halfway thru Work It, it’s just brilliant. Work It was done as a promo for the brothers’ first season. As with all these videos in this blog, keep in mind they’re lyrically explicit. These vids remind me of those that Justin Timberlake and Andy Samberg put together on Saturday Night Live. “3 Way (The Golden Rule)” anyone?
The success of the Fox vid has spawned a children’s book of the same name, due out any day. Oh, and if you want to see them mashup Broadway with DubStep, here ya’ go, Someone Like Me
Here is Work It..
